A Legacy of Leadership and Loyalty: Nancy Morse Torti ’60 Secures BB&N’s Future
Nancy Morse Torti ’60’s long-standing connection with Buckingham Browne & Nichols stems from both personal and family ties, creating a profound sense of loyalty and purpose. Nancy’s mother, Nancy Morse, served as Head of the Buckingham School for decades. “It wasn’t always easy, having your mother serve as your Head of School—everyone knew who you were,” recalls Nancy.
She grew up with an appreciation of the importance of diversity and inclusion, values instilled by her mother, who was a trailblazer in hiring the school’s first teacher of color. Their family's roots in the school, including residing in Kelsey House on what is now the Lower School campus, further cemented Nancy’s dedication to creating long-term support for BB&N.
Nancy’s deep alignment with BB&N’s commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive culture stands as the cornerstone of her decision to secure the school’s future through a significant bequest gift, in addition to continuing support for The BB&N. Her belief in the transformative power of diversity and its role in shaping compassionate, thoughtful leaders mirrors BB&N’s mission to cultivate leadership, respect, and kindness in every student. Nancy views this gift not merely as a contribution but as an investment in the values and principles that define BB&N’s community.
She strongly encourages fellow alumni to reconnect with the school, recognizing the impact of collective support in advancing BB&N’s mission. Nancy sees alumni involvement as critical to sustaining BB&N’s legacy, not just through financial contributions but by fostering a vibrant, engaged community that uplifts current students and strengthens the school’s foundation. Her dedication serves as a testament to the enduring bond between alumni and the institution, ensuring BB&N continues to thrive and grow for generations to come.
